Why does everything seem to suck for me?
May. 5th, 2007 | 11:41 pm
music: High Fidelity
Seriously though, nothing is going my way lately.
I hate to sound like this, but I've been so fucking depressed the past couple of weeks.

Sutton's last
Apr. 15th, 2007 | 10:49 pm
Today was Sutton Foster's last day in The Drowsy Chaperone. With Bob gone and Georgia Engel next to leave, the show is officially no more. Though definitely a sad day, this means that Young Frankenstein will be the next show lucky enough to have Sutton as part of its cast.

Marymount Manhattan
Apr. 1st, 2007 | 11:07 am
music: Collective Soul
I visited Marymount Manhattan yesterday, and I can say that I'm probably going to go there. I liked it a lot. The freshman dorms are like 10 blocks and a couple avenues away from Times Square. Everyone that spoke yesterday seemed really happy about the school and it seems like a good place to go. It's a pretty small school student-wise, but it seems like a lot of fun could be had there.

Dolly's over
Mar. 25th, 2007 | 02:36 pm
mood: sad, excited
music: It's All Been Done- Barenaked Ladies
Hello, Dolly! is over. I didn't think I was going to enjoy this show as we got closer to opening night (or afternoon), but I have to say I've had a lot of fun. Of course, like after every show I'm in, I'm sad it's over. I miss everyone already. Last week's matinee was definitely the worst show we'd had. All of the shows after that went really well actually. I'm proud of the show as a whole, I have to say. I hope I can persuade a lot of people from Dolly to audition for Seussical in the summer at TBTA.
Tomorrow is the first rehearsal for Carnival. I'm pretty excited to see everyone again. It should be fun.

Cancelled
Mar. 16th, 2007 | 10:50 pm
Dolly was cancelled tonight. Our opening night is being made into an opening matinee. I can't decide if that's a good thing or not. Not as many people come to matinees, therefore not as many people will witness a terrible first show. That's what I'm thinking.
So we open tomorrow, assuming the weather clears up. I am REALLY hoping all goes well. I'm not asking for this show to be as great as Beauty and the Beast, I'm just asking that everything comes together and nothing goes wrong. That's all I really want.
We finished choreographing "Dancing" yesterday and have not really had a chance to go over the song as a whole, so we have to do that before we open, I suppose.
I can't wait for this show to be over.

Holy shit
Mar. 14th, 2007 | 09:35 pm
WOW. Dolly is going to be awful. Our second to last rehearsal and the choreography isn't finished, we haven't had one full dress rehearsal, the band is never fully here, and everything that could be going wrong is going wrong. People are still sitting in the audience, people can still be seen in the wings, set changes are taking half an hour, and NO ONE CARES! HA HA HA. IT'S ALL A BIG FUCKING JOKE. IT'LL ALL COME TOGETHER! IT ALWAYS DOES! I really fucking hope it does, because right now I could seriously kill myself. If I could quit I honestly would. I don't even give a shit anymore.
I'm sorry, this seems like a good place to vent.

Tour
Mar. 12th, 2007 | 05:59 pm
music: Madeleine- Jacques Brel
The Dolly tour was long! Right now, I can not take hearing one more of those songs ever again. Funny, I'm auditioning tonight for Carnival with one.
I forgot to mention... yesterday at the Drowsy stagedoor, Patrick Wetzel who is usually in the ensemble, but played Feldzieg yesterday (whom I actually saw as Man in Chair last time) told me he was the one who private messaged me on BroadwayWorld about a post I made about a creepy kid who basically told him he wanted to stalk him after his performance as Man in Chair. I think I posted about that earlier on Livejournal. If not, let me know and I'll explain.
I just thought that was cool that he was the one who private messaged me. At the door, he said, "Your name is Bill, right?" It was funny.
That's really all.

Bob's last day
Mar. 11th, 2007 | 09:22 pm
Today was a sad day. It was fun, but sad. Tomorrow marks the day that The Drowsy Chaperone will never be the same. Bob Martin performed his "Man in the Chair" for the last time today on Broadway, and my parents, Zach, his friend, Pat, Bart, David, Dylan and one of Bart and David's co-workers, and I got to witness it. He will now be going to London and doing the show there.
Before the show, we went to the stagedoor with my vinyl and saw many people from the show and got them to sign for me. I even got to meet Casey Nicholaw, the director. He signed my vinyl for me too. He was such a nice man! We told Bob how much we enjoyed the show and that he was great. We thanked him and wished him luck. Most of the people told me how much fun the show was going to be today and I wasn't let down. There were some improvised lines on Bob's part, and at the end after all of the cast members see and recognize Bob, instead of Bob huggin Troy (Robert Martin) he kissed him (ON THE LIPS!) for a couple of seconds. It was HIL-ARIOUS! Later, after overhearing Troy, I found out that Troy bet Bob $40 that he wouldn't kiss him, and he did.
The whole cast was there except for Lenny Wopat (Mr. Feldzieg) and Edward Hibbert who is now in Curtains. The new underling is not that great.
After the show, I saw most of the cast again and I even got to meet Lisa Lambert who wrote the music and lyrics, and the real Janet Van De Graaf, who the show was written for. That was pretty fucking awesome.

Company, etc.
Feb. 20th, 2007 | 05:10 pm
music: Company
The new Company recording is great. I'm so sick of listening to the London cast. It's so damn annoying. Raúl Esparza is great.
Saturday I'm seeing Drowsy Chaperone and Spring Awakening with some people. As long as Bob, Sutton, Danny and Beth are in Drowsy I'll be happy. The past two times I saw it Danny was out, and the last time I saw it Bob was out. It's just not the same without them there.
I also reserved two tickets for the Spring Awakening workshop on April 25. Hopefully that will turn out for the best.

Got my Drowsy vinyl today. It comes with a cd that is identical to the vinyl and has more dialogue from the show than the cast album.

The Vertical Hour
Feb. 3rd, 2007 | 07:53 pm
I just got home from seeing The Vertical Hour in New York. It is a play directed by Sam Mendes, director of American Beauty, Road to Perdition and Jarhead. It stars Julianne Moore! and Bill Nighy! If you don't know who Julianne Moore is please x out of the internet forever. Bill Nighy played Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean 2. Both incredibly great actors. The play was very good. I enjoyed it very much. I wasn't really expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I've heard mixed reviews, but overall it was a good time in New York. Just me and muh dad. Julianne Moore had her daughter with her after the show and her daughter said, "Mommy, I want to sign one," so someone let her sign their playbill. Cyute!

Accepted
Jan. 31st, 2007 | 03:26 pm
*EDIT
I got accepted to Manhattanville and Wesconn yesterday. I'm still waiting to hear from Fordham, Marymount Manhattan and SUNY Purchase to decide where I want to go. Hopefully it won't take too long to get a letter from each of them.

NYC
Jan. 20th, 2007 | 08:41 pm
It was really cool spending a night at NYU with Greg and his pals. I met a lot of his friends and roommates. They all seemed really cool. We didn't spend much time in the room because we were too busy out and about. When I say out and about I mean having dinner at Otto, seeing Spring Awakening, seeing Joanna Gleason at Spring Awakening, seeing Ralph Fiennes run by us after Spring Awakening, knowing the cast of Spring Awakening. Skylar told me I pay his rent. John Groff and I talked about Sutton some more, etc. Whatever usually goes on at that stagedoor happened last night.
This morning we went to Dunkin' Donuts and I head home to get to Bart and David's party for Dylan. It was fun. I haven't seem a lot of people in a while and it was cool seeing them again. Dylan is a pretty cool kid. VERY energetic. Never stops dancing.
Did anyone else see Sutton on Johnny and the Sprites this morning!? AHH!! So good.

Spring Awakening 4
Jan. 13th, 2007 | 04:03 pm
music: Those You've Known- Spring Awakening
Last night I went to the city with Hilary and Chris Belden. It was lots of fun. We got there at 4:30 and went to TKTS. We got front row mezzanine tickets for Spring Awakening. It was great as usual.
We had tons of time to kill so we went to Europa Cafe for dinner, Virgin Records, Colony and The Drowsy Chaperone stage door. Saw Sutton, took pictures with Sutton, the usual.
After Spring Awakening, went to the stage door and talked to my friends. Jonathan Groff told us how he is a huge Sutton fan too and it's so awesome for him because now they actually email eachother. He told us how, during their previews, she got them bagels every day. She's done that for every matinee for every show she's been in. I told him I've seen Spring Awakening four times and he said he saw Thoroughly Modern Millie six times, and I said I've seen Drowsy Chaperone six times. That's how the Sutton thing came up. I mentioned how we saw her earlier and he said, "Oh, really? Cool." Good times.
I told him I liked his shoes and he told me that they were part of his costume when he understudied for Christopher J. Hanke in "In My Life." I asked him if it was awkward performing in front of his parents and he said the only time it was awkward was when they sat in the onstage seating and he couldn't help but look at them during that scene.
Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs saw the show last night too so a lot of the cast was excited they got to meet them. I saw them dash out of the stage door. That was pretty neat.
I talked to John Gallagher, but not for long, because it was pretty packed. He asked if I was gonna be around the whole weekend, and I said, "No, just for tonight." I should have told him that I was going to be around all weekend because I think he would have offered to bring me backstage. Ahh, next time. I will get backstage. Oh, I will.
